The circumstances around longtime Middle Village resident Stefani Lineva’s death are still not clear as Binghamton, NY, police are offering a nearly $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

According to police, 20-year-old Lineva’s body was found resting against a concrete median on State Route 434 near the Pennsylvania Avenue exit around 2:05 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, in an apparent hit-and-run. Lineva was taken to UHS Wilson Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her parents, however, believe their daughter may have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped on the highway, according to published reports.

Police are currently reviewing surveillance video from businesses and residences near the crime scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Lineva was a native of Bulgaria and moved to Queens as a young girl. She graduated from Forest Hills High School before going on to Adelphi University. She transferred to Binghamton University last semester as a junior, where she was on the school’s tennis team.
