Police continue to investigate after an unidentified man was found dead with a head injury on a Little Neck sidewalk on Tuesday morning.

On Jan. 16 at around 9:42 a.m., officers from the 111th Precinct responded to a call to assist Nassau County Police in the vicinity of Glenwood Road and Northern Boulevard, where they discovered an unidentified male unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to the head, law enforcement sources said.

Emergency services responded to the scene and transported the man to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was withheld by authorities.

Police initially identified the exact address where the man was found as 255-09 Northern Blvd. and could not specify whether the man was found inside or outside of the two-story location, which includes La Baraka French restaurant.

However, a family member of the deceased reached out to QNS and said the man was discovered on the sidewalk near a gas station across the street, one block east. Authorities made a house call late Tuesday night to inform the family about the unfortunate news, he said, but did not provide details about the head trauma sustained.

Police told the family member that they believe the unidentified man, a Great Neck resident, went into cardiac arrest. The man’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing, an NYPD spokesperson said on Jan. 17.
