Money-hungry bandit sought for stealing a fortune at gunpoint from an Ozone Park deli

Police released video footage on Wednesday of a man wanted for holding up an Ozone Park deli at gunpoint earlier this month.

According to law enforcement sources, the heist took place at 1:06 p.m. on April 6 inside the Cross Bay Deli, located at 105-10 Cross Bay Blvd., near Liberty Avenue.

Authorities said the gunman walked into the grocery store and displayed a firearm. He proceeded to remove cash from an employee and the register totaling $2,200, then fled northbound on foot along Cross Bay Boulevard.

Officers from the 106th Precinct responded to the incident; no injuries were reported.

The video footage shows the suspect walking along Liberty Avenue and standing inside of the store. Police described him as a black man standing 6 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds and last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a Cleveland Indians baseball cap, black pants and white sneakers.
