The Kiwanis Club of LaGuardia held its 45th Annual Charity Ball honoring Gerald Holland, Chairman, CEO and Founder of Sheltair. Kiwanis is celebrating 77 years of Service and the LaGuardia chapter is very active in the community with a variety of family events, outings, kids days, holiday celebrations and annually recognizing an outstanding individual.
This year Gerald Holland was honored. Holland has created a national company of private FBO aviation facilities. Headquarted in Florida, two of the NY’s FBO’s are at LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports. Lysa Scully, GM of LaGuardia Airport; George Dixon, Kiwanis Board member and Shanel Thomas , Kiwanis President, had glowing words for Gerald Holland. Calling his compassionate, caring and dedicated to serving the public. Holland was not able to attend the event but his daughter, VP , and Warren Kroeppel, COO of Sheltair were there to accept a special award of recognition in the form of a miniature replica of the original LaGuardia air traffic control tower.
His daughter beamed as Kroeppel accepted the ward on behalf of Holland and extolled the same virtues that others voiced when celebrating the founder’s vision, empathy and support for the Kiwanis organization. Past Governors of the Kiwanis were on hand as well to commemorate the event and show support for the on going good deeds the organization provides to the less fortunate member of the community. A special acknowledgement was made to Cheryl Jones, past President of the Club. Ms.Thomas also paid homage to past swupporters of the club which included Honorable Helen Marshall, Ed Charles, Mary Sabatilli, Sylvia White, Dolly DeThomas and Rocco Maniello.
