Black Spectrum Theatre will kick off its 49th year with star Vivica A. Fox, who will be in St. Albans to promote her autobiography, “Every Day I’m Hustling.”
The actress, producer, television host and author, whose talk show “Face the Truth” premiered Sept. 10 on CBS, will be at the theater — located at 177th Street and Baisley Boulevard within Roy Wilkins Park — Oct. 6 at 8 p.m
Fox, 54, starred on soap operas “Generations” and “Days of Our Lives,” and her movie credits include “Independence Day,” “Kill Bill: Vol. 1,” and “Soul Food.” Fox is currently set to star on the hit Fox show, “Empire,” on which she is expected to debut Oct. 31, according to a spokeswoman from the network.
The popular show premiered its fifth season Sept. 26.
“So excited to have my new book ‘Every Day I’m Hustling’ featured at the Black Spectrum Theatre! Looking forward to having discussions with Bowlegged Lou as I share my secrets of success!” said Fox.
Bowlegged Lou, formerly of the singing group Full Force, is an R&B music producer, performer and actor, and he will moderate the two-hour event at the theater.
“She’ll discuss the ins and outs of Hollywood, as well as read excerpts from her new book and discuss her new network TV show,” said Carl Clay, the founder and chief executive of Black Spectrum Theatre, who added that there will be an audience Q & A and an intermission with vendors.”
Black Spectrum Theatre will be the only spot in Queens where she will discuss her new talk show and her book, according to Aleeia Abraham, a spokeswoman for the theatre.
“This is the only stop in Queens,” said Abraham. “She will talk about how she started her career, there will be tips for new artists, she will talk about her time on ‘Empire,’ and the film ‘Independence Day’ and her new talk show.”
Her new syndicated talk show focuses on conflict resolution and the 288-page book, which is being published by St. Martin’s Press, will also provide a motivational look into what it takes to make it in Hollywood after 30-years in the business, as well as her secret to looking young at 54-years-old, according to Abraham.
The event will feature West Indian food, and is sponsored by the LaGuardia Plaza Hotel, Harlem Brew and Qutie Body Bar, according to Abraham.
“The main reason I decided to do my book ‘Every Day I’m Hustling’ is I understand how hard it is to achieve success and also to maintain longevity [in Hollywood]! I hope to enlighten, encourage and inspire others through my motivational memoir!” said Fox.
