Nodding off on a platform bench at a Jamaica train station proved painful for a 38-year-old man who was slashed in the face on Halloween night, police said.
Law enforcement sources said the assault occurred at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue station on the E line.
According to authorities, the victim fell asleep on the bench when someone stabbed him in his left cheek. After waking up and realizing that he was bleeding, police said, he boarded a Manhattan-bound E train and took it to the Jamaica-Van Wyck station, where he got off and walked into Jamaica Hospital for treatment.
The victim filed a report with police, but the perpetrator remains unknown. At this time, sources said, police have not yet recovered any surveillance footage of the incident.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
