A senior woman died on Tuesday shortly after she was struck by a car while attempting to cross a Little Neck street, police reported.
According to authorities, at 6:06 a.m. on Feb. 5, police responded to a 911 call regarding pedestrians struck at intersection 251st Street and 63rd Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found 80-year-old Xui Pu Xi and an 84-year-old man at the location with bodily injuries.
A preliminary investigation found that Xi and the male pedestrian were crossing 251st Street when a 42-year-old woman, who was driving a 2016 Honda down 63rd Avenue, made a left turn onto 251st Street and struck the victims.
Officers from the 111th Precinct and EMS responded to the scene. Paramedics rushed the victims to North Shore University Hospital, where Xi was pronounced dead. The male pedestrian suffered an injury to his left leg and is listed in stable condition.
The driver remained at the scene following the incident. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
