A 27-year-old motorcyclist is dead after crashing his bike into a pedestrian on the boarder of Middle Village and Rego Park over the weekend, police announced Wednesday.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, around 10:30 p.m., Daniel Fernandez Torres was driving his 2007 Suzuki Colt motorcycle southbound on Woodhaven Boulevard, according to the NYPD. Torres, who lived in Maspeth, approached the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and Dry Harbor Road at a high rate of speed, police said.

Proceeding through a red light, Torres struck a 43-year-old woman who was crossing Woodhaven Boulevard inside the crosswalk and with the signal, the cops said. The woman was knocked to the pavement, hitting her head on the ground as she fell. Torres continued on his bike, eventually falling off and into the northbound side of Woodhaven Boulevard.

EMS personnel arrived to the scene to find both the pedestrian and motorcyclist lying in the roadway with trauma to their bodies. Both were rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where the 43-year-old woman remains in critical condition. Torres was pronounced dead on Sunday, Sept. 20.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
