Queens detectives have launched a homicide investigation into the death of a 26-year-old man found covered in bedding and blood in his girlfriend’s home on Sunday night.

Justin Li, 26, of 209th Street in Whitestone took a single gunshot to the head, causing his death, inside his girlfriend’s apartment on 39th Avenue near Union Street.

Officers from the 109th Precinct found the mortally wounded Li while making a wellness check at the location at about 7:33 p.m. on Sept. 19. Sources familiar with the investigation said Li’s wife had called police asking that the check be made.

Upon arriving at the scene, cops found Li lying face up on the bed, wrapped in bedding and covered in blood. EMS pronounced him dead at the location.

Li’s girlfriend, meanwhile, was not at the apartment at the time police arrived. She’s not considered a suspect in his death at this time, police sources said.

So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the homicide can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on Twitter @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
