Cradle of Aviation Museum honors Sally Ride with her statue

The Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City unveiled their Sally Ride statue on June 17, to recognize her as the first American woman in space and the youngest astronaut to ride in space aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. Amidst the crow gathered to celebrate this event were Museum board members and executives, Nassau County executives, high schoolers from Freeport, Long Island, winners of the Sally Ride essay contest, and the public supporting the museum. The crowd was asked to yell in unison “Ride, Sally, Ride” to celebrate a unique woman’s life and inspiration to young people and caught in this photo.
