A Brooklyn man was arrested Wednesday and charged in the fatal shooting of a Queens Village man in front of his home in late May, according to the NYPD.

Members of the NYPD’s Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked down Damere Ellison, 28, on Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn and charged him with murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

The arrest comes nearly six weeks after Ellison allegedly gunned down 37-year-old Snealing Melendez in front of his residence on 221st Street in Queens Village after an argument grew violent.

Police from the 105th Precinct responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the vicinity of 221st Street and 94th Drive just after 10 p.m. on the night of Wednesday, May 25.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found Melendez with a gunshot wound to the torso.

EMS responded to the crime scene and rushed Melendez to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.

Ellison fled the scene in a silver Nissan SUV, police said.
