Police searching for suspects behind burglary of Douglaston church

Police from the 111th Precinct are asking for help in identifying three suspects who broke into Saint Anastasia Church in the early hours of Friday morning, Aug. 26.

According to the NYPD, the suspects broke into the church at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 26 by prying open a rear door.

Upon entering the church, the crooks stole a safe, credit cards and approximately $125 in cash before fleeing in a light-colored SUV, heading southbound on 245th Street.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspects on Sunday night.

Located at 45-14 245th St. in Douglaston, Saint Anastasia Church was founded in 1915 by the Reverend Francis J. Uleau. The first church building was constructed in 1918, with the first Mass taking place the following year.
