New developments in Long Island City include work-from-home, playroom spaces

As working from home becomes much more common, families are looking for housing that adapts to their needs. These new developments in Long Island City include imaginative children’s playrooms and work spaces to bring convenience to modern families. 

In Hunters Point South, at 5203 and 5241 Center Blvd., this mixed-use and mixed-income development from TF Cornerstone is made up of 1,194 new residential units, including 719 permanently affordable homes, offering a mix of studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Interior designer Caroline McKeough, brings a lively playhouse area for children, with a vibrant interior and desk areas.

In Gotham Point, another development right on the water’s edge, two towers include 1,132 studio to three-bedroom residences with 75% of units priced at affordable rates. Gotham Org., in partnership with Handel Architects and BHDM Design LLC, expects to complete the project on the North Tower by the end of this year. One tower is already completed.

Gotham Point strives to bring a healthy living and working environment to Long Island City with over 50,000 square feet of space for a gym, yoga studio, media room, business center and a rooftop terrace overlooking the East River. 

The children’s room at Gotham Point also boasts a vibrant interior, with an array of toys, bean bag chairs and a chalkboard wall to foster creativity.
