Bishop Robert J. Brennan, the eighth Bishop of Brooklyn, serving both Brooklyn and Queens, presided over Christ the King High School’s end-of-the-school-year mass, in Middle Village, on Wednesday, June 7.
Bishop Brennan accompanied Christ the King High School’s Chaplin, Father Jose Diaz, and Deacon Paul Norman, in the end-of-year church service.
“It was an honor to receive Bishop Brennan and show him Christ the King is not just a place for education but a platform for mentoring faith, discipline, respect and spiritual growth,” said Christ The King High School Principle Joseph Arbitello.
After Mass, Bishop Brennan toured the school and sat in on classes where students had the opportunity to speak to him personally
“We are all trying to live the way that God would want us to live. Bishop Brennan’s visit helps in reinforcing our faith and renewing our spirit,” said Christ the King junior Niall Iriarte.
Bishop Brennan, 61, was raised in Lindenhurst, Long Island and studied for the priesthood at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, in Huntington, according to his bio. He was ordained a priest at the Diocese of Rockville Centre in May 1989. He began his role as the eighth Bishop of Brooklyn in November 2021.
“It was a memorable day for the Christ the King Community to have the spiritual leader of our Diocese visit. Bishop Brennan’s words of wisdom and encouragement were both inspiring and enlightening to our student body and all of the Christ the King Community,” said Serphin R. Maltese, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
