The New York Lottery announced that a third-prize winning Powerball ticket was sold Wednesday, Oct. 18 at a Jamaica business.

Smoke Shop 163 Inc., located at 9218 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., sold the winning ticket worth $50,000, according to the New York Lottery. A call to the store Thursday morning went unanswered.

In each Powerball game, the winning numbers are drawn from a field of 1 through 69. Additionally, there is a separate field of 1 to 26 from which the red Powerball number is chosen. The drawings are televised every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

The New York Lottery is the largest and most profitable lottery in the United States. During the 2022-23 fiscal year, it contributed more than $3.7 billion, helping to support education in New York.
