Southeast Queens business owners and entrepreneurs can learn ways they can work with Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) as it hosts a procurement fair on Monday, Nov. 6, at the South Ozone Park casino.
Participants will be able to meet RWNYC officials to learn what business opportunities are on offer with the casino and resort, and visit information booths during two sessions: noon to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Local vendors, minority and women-owned businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, and other entrepreneurs can showcase their products and capabilities and expand their network.
“Resorts World New York City has been a proud Southeast Queens resident for a dozen years now, and we have sought to empower our fellow businesses over that time,” RWNYC Senior Vice President of Community Development Michelle Stoddart said. “Our commitment is to be a global destination powered by local businesses, which is why events such as these are so crucial. We invite businesses across the five boroughs to come learn how we can potentially work together.”
The procurement fair will be held at the Central Park Event Space, at RWNYC, located at 110-00 Rockaway Blvd.
The following week, state Sen. Joseph Addabbo will be hosting his annual job fair at Resorts World New York City, with dozens of companies looking to hire new workers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17. Addabbo recommends job seekers come dressed in business attire and have plenty of copies of their resumes to give to the participating companies.
“This is one of the biggest events that I host all year, and I am always grateful to the vendors, our host Resorts World Casino, and co-sponsor, the Queens Chamber of Commerce, for assisting me in providing job opportunities for people,” Addabbo said. “Helping individuals find work is one of the most important services I can provide as an elected official.”
Resorts World is providing free parking for prospective job seekers in a lot directly across from the casino entrance, and the building is wheelchair accessible.
Addabbo said that businesses in need of employees should reach out to his district office and that they would be provided with a free table at the jobs fair. He is also urging job seekers to turn up, with their being more than 100 companies represented.
“I encourage everyone who is looking for a job to come out to the Job Fair and see what companies are hiring,” Addabbo said. “Over the years, many constituents have returned to my office to let me know that they were successful in finding a job at my Job Fair, and there’s no better feeling than that.”
Companies, organizations, recruiters, and agencies across the tri-state area are invited to participate in the Job Fair free of charge. Each company that registers will have an assigned table with chairs and can request access to a power source. Job seekers will be able to walk around the event space and interact at each table.
