A teenager was shot and wounded in the Rockaways last month and the NYPD is still looking for the two gunmen who remain at large after they were captured on video surveillance firing their handguns.

Police from the 101st Precinct in Far Rockaway reported that at around 8:45 p.m. on the night of Sunday, Nov. 19, two young men were walking through a courtyard at the Ocean Bay apartments in Bayswater when they pulled out firearms and began shooting. A 15-year-old boy was struck in his left shoulder while the gunmen ran off westbound on Beach 54th Street, police said.

EMS responded to the crime scene and rushed the teen to Cohen Children’s Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released the surveillance video on Dec. 7 and asked for the public’s help in identifying the gunmen. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

Through Dec. 3, the 101st Precinct has reported 12 shooting incidents so far in 2023, 7 fewer than the 19 reported at the same point last year, a decrease of 36.8%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
