The Woodhaven Business Improvement District, an organization dedicated to boosting local commerce, is preparing for the return of Woodhaven Restaurant Week, where participating eateries along Jamaica Avenue offer special deals to customers for a limited time.
More than 20 restaurants along Jamaica Avenue will be offering customers unique pricing options as part of Woodhaven Restaurant Week that will be start on Monday, Apr. 8. The event will go for more than week, concluding on Sunday, Apr. 21.
John Perricone, the executive director of the Woodhaven BID, says additional restaurants are likely to participate and announce their involvement closer to the starting date.
Perricone said that the BID scheduled the event for mid-April, since it is a notoriously slow period for restaurants along Jamaica Avenue. He said that the event aims to help boost their earnings while draw attention to what they offer.
Dominican Restaurant Chef Toribio 2 is the first of many restaurants listed as participants in the Woodhaven BID Restaurant Week.
The Dominican eatery, located at 74-26 Jamaica Ave., offers a variety of authentic Dominican cuisine, from its Pechuga con Camarones en salsa al ajillo (also known as beef and shrimp in garlic sauce) to evening dining options like Bistec (Steak) seasoned with mixed peppers and onions.
Antojitos de San Cecilio, another participating business, is a Mexican restaurant joining the list of eateries once again this year.
The roster of other restaurants that have signed up so far includes: Bonao Chimi; Brisas Del Mar; La Piñata Mexicana; La Nostra Pizzeria; El Puerto Mexicano; Pan Ugo Bakery; Pop’s Cocina & Bar; Cancun Cafe; Dennis Bagel; El Molino Bakery; D’Aleo’s Pizza; Caridad Restaurant; Caraotas; Pollos Doña Maria; A Lo Perucho; Joe’s Pizza; Panorama Bakery; Cuenca Coffee Shop; and Duran Restaurant.
