Police from the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood and Transit District 33 are looking for a man who snatched a cell phone from a 15-year-old girl who was onboard a southbound L train last week.

The train had just pulled into the Haley Street subway station in Ridgewood just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, and when the doors opened, the suspect grabbed her iPhone 13 from her hands. The perpetrator fled the station and was last seen running southbound on Halsey Street. The teenager was not injured during the incident. An iPhone 13 is valued at $600 and upwards.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect on Friday and described him as having a dark complexion, approximately six feet tall, with a slim build. He wore a black Nike hooded sweatshirt, blue ripped jeans, a black belt, blue sneakers, and a light blue du-rag.

Through June 16, the 104th Precinct has reported 324 grand larcenies so far in 2024, 25 fewer than the 299 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 8.4%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
