New York supermarket chain City Fresh Market will host a grand opening celebration for its new Ridgewood store on Friday, Jan. 24.
City Fresh’s new Ridgewood store at 583 Grandview Ave. is the chain’s 15th location across New York and New Jersey and its fifth Queens-based store. The new Ridgewood location takes over from a RiteAid store that closed at the site in September 2023.
The new location has already held a soft opening and will celebrate its grand opening on Jan. 24 with a live DJ, giveaways and discounts.
The store will open 24/7 and boasts 25 parking spaces in an adjacent lot.
Francheska Gomez of Aventus Real Estate, who oversaw the deal for the new store, said the Ridgewood location will also operate a free shuttle service to pick up customers from their homes and bring them back home once they finish grocery shopping. The shuttle, which Gomez says acts as a taxi service, is available to any customer who visits the store and requests a pick-up service.
Jose Arturo Payamps, who manages a nearby City Fresh Market store on Knickerbocker Avenue in Brooklyn, will also oversee the new location in Ridgewood, Gomez said.
She said the store features a juice bar and bakery and plans to add a pizza station in the coming months.
Gomez added that customers unfamiliar with City Fresh can expect high-quality food in the new supermarket.
“They really do strive for quality meats, quality produce. The store speaks for itself once you get in there,” Gomez said. “Everything is super, super fresh.”
She also commented that several residents have expressed their excitement about the new store, stating that it represents an ideal addition to the neighborhood.
“It was actually a nice soft opening,” Gomez said. “I would say there was a lot of action, a lot of foot traffic.
“Everyone’s excited. They all mentioned they were hoping and waiting for a supermarket to open close to where they live and said that they wanted a supermarket there rather than a pharmacy. Everyone’s feedback has been extremely positive.”
