A new mixed-use development is planned for Jamaica, as permits have been filed for a 12-story building that will combine residential and commercial space.

The project, located at 89-61 162nd St. between 89th Avenue and Jamaica Avenue, will rise 123 feet and encompass 61,415 square feet. Of that, 60,233 square feet will be dedicated to residential use, featuring 89 units—likely rentals—with an average size of 676 square feet. An additional 1,182 square feet will be allocated for commercial purposes. The building will also include a concrete-based structure, a cellar, and a 31-foot rear yard.

The property owner, Ami Weinstock, has enlisted JFA Architects & Engineers DPC to design the development. Known for their expertise in urban projects, the architectural firm will oversee the creation of a modern, mixed-use structure in one of Queens’ most dynamic neighborhoods.

Demolition permits for the existing three-story building on the site were filed earlier this month, and while an estimated completion date has not been announced, the project adds to Jamaica’s rapidly evolving skyline.

With its proximity to the Parsons Boulevard subway station, served by the F train, and the neighborhood’s robust transit access, Jamaica continues to attract new development.
