Queens residents, real estate professionals and local stakeholders gathered in Forest Hills on Thursday, May 8, to celebrate a major milestone in one of the borough’s most notable new developments: the official launch of The Austin, a six-story luxury condominium featuring 98 residences.
Located at 78-29 Austin Street, The Austin recently marked the sale of 20% of its units and received official “effective” status from the New York State Attorney General’s Office, signifying that the development can now proceed with closings and move-ins. The event served both as a formal introduction of the property to the public and a celebration of its progress in the competitive Queens housing market.

The celebration featured servings of champagne and caviar, as well as live music and playful chocolate readings from a mentalist. Those on hand had the opportunity to take private tours of The Austin’s lobbies, staged model residents and the rooftop amenity spaces, which are still being put together, including outdoor lounges, a dining area, a junior Olympic-size saltwater swimming pool and more.

Other amenities available to residents of The Austin include a rooftop screening garden for watching films under the night sky, a pickleball court, a package room, storage units, a music room, a spa featuring a sauna and cold plunge, a state-of-the-art fitness center with an indoor basketball court and yoga studio, a zen garden, a resident’s lounge, a library with a fireplace, a business center and a children’s playroom.

Full-time concierge services are available, including housekeeping and personal training. There is also a live-in superintendent. On-site indoor parking is available, with some parking spots being equipped with EV charging stations. High-speed internet is available to all residents. Additionally, the building is pet-friendly and features a pet spa.
“You have the elements of tranquility and sophistication of a large building in a tree-lined street block, which is something that’s highly unusual in a low-rise community where you don’t have to worry about large-scale developments just popping up all around you,” said Alexander Pereira, whose team at Modern Spaces is handling the sales of condos at The Austin. “For people who are looking for a tranquil lifestyle, this building is probably something they should consider.”

The condos at The Austin range in size from one-bedroom units to four-bedroom units. There are also townhouse and penthouse units still available. Modern Spaces, the exclusive sales and marketing team for The Austin, hopes to reach agreements on sales for each condo this summer.

Among the 25 available units listed on The Austin’s website, six have not yet entered into a contract. They range in price from $814,000 to $2,974,763. These units include two one-bedroom units, one two-bedroom unit, one three-bedroom unit, one penthouse and one townhouse.

The Austin is targeting LEED Gold, meaning it aims to achieve an advanced level of sustainable design, adopting some of the best practices when it comes to sustainability. It is also Energy Star-certified, meeting the strict energy proficiency standards set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
