Two Jamaica men were sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for their roles in the shooting death of a Bronx man the day after Christmas in 2015, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced Friday.

The two men, Neon Osuna, 38, of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and Brandon Williams, 37, of 159th Street, are such close friends they refer to each other as cousins, prosecutors said. They were convicted of second-degree murder in August before Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael B. Aloise, who handed down the sentence on Dec. 6.

According to trial testimony, the victim, 35-year-old Donald Reed, attended a party with friends at The Smoke Shop, an establishment owned by Osuna on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard between 107th and 108th Avenues in South Jamaica.

Law enforcement sources said that Osuna and Williams, who worked as a bouncer at the club, followed Reed on the morning of Dec. 26, 2015 and confronted him near a bodega around 6:30 a.m. A verbal argument turned violent as the two friends exchanged gunfire with the victim, who also possessed a weapon. During the course of the shootout, Reed was struck four times in the neck and torso.

Officers from the 103rd Precinct and EMS units responded to a 911 call about the shooting. Paramedics rushed Reed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“This was a senseless killing during what should have been a festive holiday season,” Brown said. “A 35-year-old father was gunned down early in the morning on a residential street. The defendants in this case were convicted of murder and have been sentenced to a lengthy term of incarceration for this deadly shooting.”
