Sikh sport draws thousands to Woodhaven

Maybe one day kabaddi, a team game popularized in India, will be an Olympic sport, but for now fans in the area will just have to settle for an annual tournament in Woodhaven.

Victory Field, normally a quiet track and field located near Myrtle Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard, was packed with more than 2,000 people Sunday for an international competition of a team sport that originated in the Punjab section of India and is played mostly by Sikhs.
