The West Cunningham Park Civic Association and the Friends of Cunningham Park have a number of proposals for the renovation of Cunningham Park, and are seeking funds to carry out these proposals.
Cunningham Park is a very heavily used park, and a closeup look shows the wear and tear. Although Community Board 8 has listed the renovation of Cunningham Park as its No. 2 capital budget item for several years, major repairs have been made only west of Francis Lewis Boulevard.
The core area, which serves the adjacent homeowners plus many family and fraternal groups from many parts of Queens, is the area which needs work. This area is east of Francis Lewis Boulevard, north of Union Turnpike and west of 193rd Street
