Police Blotter: Lewd sex abuser prowls Ozone Park

OZONE PARK — Police have been searching for a man responsible for a series of sex abuse and public lewdness crimes made toward girls and teenagers since Jan. 9, said police.

According to police, the suspect is a white male in his 20s, between 5’6″ and 5’10” tall with green eyes, and was seen wearing a green jacket and riding in a green vehicle.

During the past month, he has harassed six females between ages 12 and 19, all of whom were going to school or work, said police.

About 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 9, the suspect grabbed a victim between the legs at 116th Avenue and 125th Street, police reported.

At 11 a.m. the same day, the suspect exposed himself to a victim at 133rd Avenue and 87th Street, said police.

The suspect grabbed a victim’s buttocks as she waited for a bus Jan. 11 at 76th Street and Glenmore Avenue at 3 p.m., said police.

He reached between the legs of a victim Jan. 22 at 109th Avenue and 112th Street about 7:50 a.m., police reported.

On Jan. 29, at 116th Avenue and 124th Street, the suspect again grabbed a victim’s buttocks about 12:30 p.m., said police.

On Sunday, the suspect put his hand on a victim’s groin at 111th Avenue and 121st Street about 9:15 a.m., police said.

Police asked anyone with information about the pattern to call 1-800 577-TIPS.

Man shot in Arverne

ARVERNE — Police responded to a report of shots fired at Beach 54th Street and Beach Channel Drive Friday about 2:50 p.m.

When they arrived, officers were told a man had been shot there but had left, police said.

Police then went to Peninsula General Hospital in Far Rockaway where they found a 21-year-old man seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to his buttocks.

The man said he was walking by Beach 54th Street and Beach Channel Drive when he was shot, police said.

Police were investigating.

Man shot in back drives to hospital

JAMAICA — A 39-year-old man drove himself to the hospital after getting into an accident and being shot in the back three times Sunday, police said.

According to police, the man was involved in an accident at the intersection of Liberty and Remington streets about 5:45 a.m. Another man of unknown age allegedly shot the 39-year-old three times in the back, but the 39-year-old managed to drive himself to Jamaica Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.

Police were investigating.

Car fleeing checkpoint hits pole, three hurt

EDGEMERE — Police responded to an accident about 2:20 a.m. at Beach 33 Street and Edgemere Avenue where a car with three people inside collided with a pole, police said.

The driver was taken to St. John’s Hospital in critical condition, and the two passengers were taken to Jamaica Hospital with less severe injuries, said police.

Police said their preliminary investigation revealed the car had earlier fled from a police checkpoint.

Police continued their investigating.

Teen boy reports sex assault

ASTORIA — A 14-year-old male reported to police he had been sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Police said no arrests had been made.

Police were investigating.

Police nab two robbery suspects in club shooting

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — Three men and a woman allegedly shot at and robbed patrons in Club Illusion, 125-22 Merrick Blvd., about 1:50 a.m. Feb. 7, police said.

The suspects reportedly fired at the ceiling to scare customers and shot at patrons attempting to escape, said police, who reported no injuries.

After allegedly stealing money from club-goers and from the club itself, the suspects attempted to flee, police said. But officers arrested Lisa Washington, 25, and Michael Overton, 20, two of the robbery suspects. The other two male suspects, reported to be in their 20s, escaped, police said.

Police were investigating.

21 arrested at social club for drugs, firearm possession

HOLLIS — Police arrested 21 men and women for criminal possession of firearms and marijuana after searching the Brickhouse social club at 198-19 Hollis Ave. at 4 a.m. Sunday.

One of those arrested was an off-duty corrections officer, said police.

Two firearms were found at the scene, police said. Newsday reported that the club was unlicensed.

Man shot in car, suspect flees

OZONE PARK — A 35-year-old man was shot several times while sitting in a car in front of 111-54 Van Wyck Expressway at about 8:35 p.m. on Feb. 6, police said.

The man escaped to a nearby pizza place, where paramedics arrived and rushed him to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, said police.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction, said police.

Police were investigating.

Man investigated for anti-Semitic talk

OZONE PARK — A 24-year-old man made anti-Semitic remarks to a 56-year-old woman within the 106th Precinct at 5 p.m. Feb. 7, police said.

Police reported no arrests and were investigating.
