DePhillips Athletic Club: Braves, Reds keep on truckin’ in DAC Pony League playoffs

Estates Animal Hospital Braves 11, Ashlar Mechanical Yankees 1. The Braves continued their unbeaten streak with a convincing win. Matt Larotunda and Nick Grosso were a solid battery, with relief from Max Eisenkraft and Chris Yoon. Eric Fox , Steve Airasian, Pete Barbazan and Brian O’Connell had key hits. Steve Fielder, Chris Guzman, John Mirabella and Aaron Rudin played well defensively, as did Ian Freed, Chris Homenick and Sam LeDilly. The Yankees got good pitching from Marco Diasparra and hits from Rico Otway, Tony Dilluvio and B.J. Schrettner. Jason Waters was solid at first base.

DePhillips Sports Red 17, Heros Boys Club Rangers 8. The Reds defeated the Rangers behind Ricky Honya’s complete game. Matt DeMatteis had a home run with Thomas Hubany, Dave Giancola, Adam Greenfield and Frank Lorriggio also getting key hits. Vin Pino, Adam Dilluvio, Ed Orlowski, Jesse Reshes, Marc Sacks and Sebastian Restepo anchoring a solid defense. The Rangers had a good pitching performance by Juan Torres and timely hits by Larry Cummings and Tim McKuen.

DAC Devil Rays continue hot streak

The Fitness Consultant Devil Rays continued their amazing march through the playoffs by beating a formidable Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament team, 12-2, in the second round of the DAC Major League playoffs and then topping the powerful Marlins, 12-8, in the first game of the championship series.

Derek Cafasso continues to provide power pitching and hitting, Renny Bianco and Danny D’Emidio excel in pitching, fielding and timely hitting, Stefanos Tsipas is a sure handed backstop and a dangerous batter, Joe Cornetta is a solid outfielder and consistent lead-off man and John Marafino shines with the bat and the glove. Michael Manatrizio is a solid second baseman and a daring base runner. Alberto Perez made an incredible catch in right field to save the Marlin game, Billy Male ripped a game-winning single against OLBS, Tommy Chimarios and Ian Salisbury combine tough at-bats with hustle in the field.

Every Devil Ray game has been a true team effort.
