SPRINGFIELD GARDENS – A 4-year-old girl was seriously injured in a three-car crash near her home as she and her mother headed to do some last-minute shopping on Dec. 23, police said.
The girl, who was not in a car seat, was thrown from her family’s Ford Explorer as her mother attempted to make a left turn onto Springfield Boulevard from 130th Avenue, police said. A woman driving north on the boulevard ran a red light and struck the car, police said. The Ford spun out of control and struck a third car.
The girl had a broken nose and a fractured skull, and was listed in serious but stable condition at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Four other persons were injured in the accident, police said.
The driver of the second car was issued a summons for the moving violation and the girl’s mother was issued a summons for not having the girl in a car seat, police said.
Police seek information on missing Richmond Hill teen
RICHMOND HILL – A Richmond Hill teen disappeared while on her way home from the library early last month, police said.
Tripache Nikkte Fraser, 17, was last seen riding the A train home Dec. 10, after spending the afternoon reading at the library, police said.
Fraser is 4’11” and weighs 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, police said. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red sweater with a hood and Timberland boots. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the 106th Precinct detective squad at 845-2260.
Jamaica man shot dead at Queens Village bar
QUEENS VILLAGE – A Jamaica man was shot and killed early Monday morning in an apparent bar fight in Queens Village, police said.
Larone Pettway, 22, of 163-33 Sayers Ave., was shot twice at about 2:45 a.m. Monday after what police believe was a dispute at Tony’s Bar, 221-13 Jamaica Ave., police said. Pettway went into cardiac arrest, and died about 45 minutes later at Long Island Jewish Hospital, police said.
No arrests were made and the investigation was continuing, police said.
Man arrested on charges of robbing Pomonok business
POMONOK – A 21-year-old man was arrested last Thursday on charges he held up a business on Parsons Boulevard in Pomonok, police said.
Darryl Shepard, whose address was not released, was accused of entering a business at 70-35 Parsons Blvd. at about 5:30 p.m. last Thursday, brandishing a gun, and demanding money, police said. Shepard allegedly fled the scene with an unknown amount of money.
Shepard was arrested at 9:35 p.m., and police said they found a loaded handgun and proceeds from the robbery. He was charged with robbery and possession of a weapon, police said.
Robber gets $1,300 from bank in Little Neck
LITTLE NECK — A robber made off with more than $1,300 from the Queens County Savings Bank on Northern Boulevard Dec. 20, police said.
The robber handed the bank teller a note demanding cash and the teller complied, police said, giving the man $1,363. The Queens County Savings Bank is at 251-31 Northern Blvd. in Little Neck.
No one was injured and no arrests have been made, police said. An investigation is ongoing, police said.
109th Pct. officer arrested, suspended on assault charges
AUBURNDALE – A police officer was arrested and suspended from active duty on charges of assault last week, police said.
Officer Paul Moehring was arrested at 33-65 169th St. in Auburndale, within the 109th Precinct at about 10 a.m. on Dec. 24, police said.
There were no details available on the alleged assault.
Man shot in Woodhaven listed in serious condition
WOODHAVEN – A 23-year-old man was in serious condition after he was found shot in the chest last Thursday, police said.
The man, who was not identified, was discovered on the corner of 94th Avenue and 102nd Street in Woodhaven just after 10 p.m. last Thursday.
He was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. No arrests were made and the investigation was continuing.
2 110th officers suspended after prisoner escapes
JACKSON HEIGHTS – Two police officers from the 110th Precinct were suspended from active duty after a prisoner in their custody escaped Saturday afternoon, police said.
The officers, Sgt. James Murphy and Officer Bruce Koch, were conducting an investigation at the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and Forley Street at 4:15 Saturday, involving a woman who had been placed in handcuffs, police said. The woman escaped, running northbound on 85th Street and was not recaptured, police said.
No details were available on the investigation the police officers were conducting, but the investigation into the escape was continuing, police said.
Sunnyside teen sexually assaulted in building lobby
SUNNYSIDE – A 13-year-old girl was raped and sodomized in the lobby of her building on Christmas afternoon, police said.
The girl, who lives within the 108th Precinct, and whose identity was not released, was attacked about 3 p.m. Dec. 25, police said. She was treated and released from an area hospital.
No arrests were made, and the investigation was continuing.

Police investigate break-in at Elmhurst mosque
ELMHURST – An Elmhurst mosque was burglarized early Sunday morning, police said.
The Al-Taufiq Mosque, located at 85-37 Britton Ave., reported that someone broke into the building through a basement window. No details were available on whether anything was taken from the mosque, and the investigation was continuing.
