Anna Maria’s Bagels battles Pearl St. Diner in PeeWees

PeeWee Division

Anna Maria’s Bagels vs. Pearl St. Diner. Anna Maria’s was in fine form on opening day as Michael Sullivan got a key hit to drive in a few runs, and Aidan Leavans made some stellar plays in the field that earned him game ball honors. Pearl St. was equally brilliant. Constantine Mylonas had a huge home run and Gianni Panepinto flashed some fancy leather in the field.

Titan Development vs. Lloyds. John Rosenboom smashed a grand slam for Titan and teammate Daniel Shannon played a fine all-around game. Lloyd’s was led by hitting star Matthew Santagato, who had two big hits. Game ball honors went to Charlie Seem for his fine all-around play.

Bagel and Bake vs. Major Homes. Julian Leroy led the hit parade, and Jordan Eitelberg supplied gold glove defense at short for a fine opening day for Bagel and Bake. Every player on Major Homes had a hit in a line team performance.

Johnson Financial Corp. vs. Duce Construction. Steven Nacinovich had a screaming line-drive hit, and Richard Carpio made an outstanding catch for Duce Construction in this fine Pee Wee contest.

Tiger Schulman Karate vs. American Legion Post 123. Tiger Schulman was led by brothers Vasili and Emmanuel Hatzikolaou, who each had outstanding games in the field and at bat. Every player on American Legion Post 123 contributed in a fine all-around team performance.

Texas Division

K Klein, CPA 7, Monahan & Fitzgerald 3. On a cold and rainy opening day of the baseball season K. Klein, CPA came out on top, 7-3. Alex Lamburini and Christian Cruz combined for six well-pitched innings, and Allessandro Pacheco went 2-for-2 with three RBIs for R. Klein, CPA. Mitchell Chung pitched three strong innings and Justin Beiner had a triple and three RBIs for Monahan & Fitzgerald.

Hatten Funeral Home 8, Gemini Tanning 6. Andrew Adler went 3-for-3 with a walk to lead the offensive attack in Hatten’s victory over Gemini Tanning this past Saturday. Dillon DePinto also went 3-for-3 with a triple, while Francisco Dire and Bennett O’Donald combined for nine strikeouts in five innings for the victors. Gemini Tanning was led by Kyle Bremer, who pitched three innings and struck out eight, while Matthew Gluck had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 in the loss.

Internet Business Group 5, Mardene Construction 1. Jessie Pau pitched two no-hit innings, and Tony Kentrotas had two hits to lead Internet Business Group over Mardene Construction in an abbreviated three-inning contest due to inclement weather. Mardene Construction had good performances from southpaw Danny Tobin, who made his debut on the mound, and fine defensive efforts by Tyler Parise, Anthony DiPasquale and Mark Marden.

Minor Division

Starlight Caterers 9, Clearview Paint 2. Buoyed by strong pitching and team defense, Starlight overcame an early deficit on two three-run homers, one by Steven Kocal down the line to deep right field and one by Kevin Will, a smash to dead center. Patrick Cooney was more than up to the task of catching for Starlight on a cold, wet morning. Jamie Skala doubled in the first run of the year for Clearview. Clearview’s Patrick Rufino was tough behind the plate and also hustled his way to two stolen bases and scored on a hit by Yianni. Both teams played with spirit and determination despite weather conditions that left many parents shivering while they cheered.
