Andre Louis, the 60-year-old completing a historic cross-country bike ride benefitting the Hospice Unit of the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, is nearly 2/3 of the way home.
Having ridden almost 2,000 of the 3,300 miles, he has made his way through Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and is approaching Illinois.
Last week, Louis visited the Shalom Park Nursing Facility in Aurora, Colorado.
“Everything went wonderfully at Shalom Park,” said Louis. “We got a very warm reception. There were close to 100 people who asked a million questions.”
Once he reaches Chicago, Louis will continue his mission of informing people of the benefits of maintaining one’s health.
He will speak next at a branch of the Council for Jewish Elderly, the Weinberg Community for Senior Living in Deerfield, Illinois. While there, he will also meet with the residents of the Weinberg Community enrolled in the fitness program.
Excited at the opportunity to spread his message across the U.S., Louis said he feels great.
“Each facility that he [Louis] has visited has gone out of its way to make it a good experience for people who receive him and for making Andre feel welcome,” said Linda Spiegel, spokesperson for Margaret Tietz.
