Community Board 2 threw its support behind the city's expansive rezoning proposal for Woodside and Maspeth Thursday night, giving the plan the support of one of the two districts potentially impacted by the plan.
Community Board 5, Glendale, which held a hearing Jan. 31, is expected to vote on it Feb. 8.
The city's Department of City Planning developed the Maspeth Woodside Rezoning proposal, which encompasses 134 city blocks, to establish higher density residential construction on major thoroughfares such as Queens Boulevard, and lower density construction within residential neighborhoods.
Following the CB 5 vote, the plan will be reviewed in the Queens borough president's land use public hearing Feb. 23, and later votes by the City Planning Commission and the City Council.
