“I wonder if I have any new comments today?” I thought to myself as I headed straight to the computer after school to check my myspace web page. I had just recently been introduced to the exciting new world of myspacing, yet I was already being transformed into a myspace-o-holic.
Why wouldn’t anyone love myspace? It gives you the right to make a website all about yourself without anybody being able to call you vain (probably because they have one, too!). You can meet new friends, get picture feedback on all of those close-ups, and talk about yourself to your heart’s content (hence the name, myspace).
However, myspace has a bad side as well. You don’t have any idea what creeps or online predators may be looking at your myspace web site; there will always be drama among friends about why they are not in your “top 8,” and it is rather egotistical to post the same picture of yourself shot at 12 different angles.
On top of that, myspace is time-consuming. Once it sucks you in, you should plan to spend hours on the computer leaving comments, looking at other people’s myspace pages, and looking for ways to decorate your own. I should know because I did the exact same thing!
Will myspace go out just like xanga’s and buddy profiles? Or is it here to stay? I recently deleted my myspace and I have to admit it was a very difficult decision to make. Do I regret my decision? Maybe (just think of all the comments I am missing out on!). Do I have more time on my hands? Definitely.
