A woman was killed after the motorcycle she was riding as a passenger collided with a car and burst into flames on Wednesday evening, October 4 in Bayside.
Colleen Howard, 39, was pronounced dead after being taken to New York Hospital Queens while Francis Land, 36, was left fighting for his life.
“Lang is still listed in critical condition,” said police detective Joseph Cavitolo.
The accident happened at about 7:20 p.m. when Lang, who was driving the motorcycle, slammed into the side of a 1999 Lexus driven by a 66-year-old woman at 203rd Street and Rocky Hill Road.
According to witnesses, Lang was thrown many feet away while Howard was pinned underneath the motorcycle which burst into flames.
Despite reports that the driver of the Lexus may have failed to stop at a stop sign, the police have stated otherwise.
“The driver of the Lexus is not being charged with anything,” Cavitolo said.
