The meeting at Federal Hall in Lower Manhattan followed Bush's speech to Wall Street leaders Wednesday morning. Bush earlier pledged $25 million to fund the program at Mount Sinai Hospital and others that screen 9/11 responders for latent effects of the World Trade Center dust.
Cesar Jr., Borja's 21-year-old son, said after the meeting that he was pleased with the president's response. U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, who invited the younger Borja to attend the State of the Union on what turned out to be the day his father died, said she was glad Bush met with Borja and pledged to press for more funding. Clinton originally asked for $1.9 billion to fund the Sinai program and others.
