The Adventure Boot Camp has finally arrived in Queens.
Bayside native Becky Wenner, a multi-certified physical instructor, invites area women to grab their running shoes and hand weights - and get ready to jump-start their day with a challenging and energizing workout.
The next camp starts on Monday, October 1 at 6 a.m. and sessions are one hour a day, Monday-Friday, for four weeks. There’s also a three-day-a-week program, but Wenner stresses that the five-day program gives better results.
“We mix in all fitness levels,” Wenner said. “Beginners just do fewer reps on a timed exercise, so they have encouragement without stress to perform.”
The camp, which actually takes place at Little Bay Park in Bayside, includes a variety of exercises, including weight training, obstacle courses, hiking, abdominal and core training, circuits and much more.
All registered boot camp participants will receive a sports nutrition seminar, two body composition assessments, daily motivational emails, and a Queens Adventure Boot Camp T-shirt.
Wenner has been a fitness enthusiast all her life. She is certified as an Adventure Boot Camp Instructor by the National Exercise and Sports Training Association.
She also holds other training certificates including Personal Training Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and Group Fitness Instruction from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, which has also certified her in kickboxing. Wenner is certified in CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator. In her spare time, she is a practicing corporate attorney.
“What I love about Adventure Boot Camp is the variety of the workout and the camaraderie of the campers,” Wenner said. “Our boot camp will give a boost to your fitness plan in a fun and supportive environment.”
The camp projects results of a 3-5 percent reduction in body fat, 5-12 pounds of weight loss, and a 1-3 inch reduction in the mid-section and “a 100 percent increase in confidence.”
Wenner also announced that she would hold a kid’s fitness boot camp for four Wednesdays starting on October 17, from 4-5 p.m. at the Samuel Field Y 58-20 Little Neck Parkway in Little Neck. “We skip October 31 so kids can have Halloween, so the last session is on November 14,” she said.
