St. Fidelis’ mystery benefactor

Father Arthur Minichello has been the pastor of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in College Point for a long time. Now he has his own angel.
The parish took over day-to-day operations of a “Mother and Child Residence” across the street from the church property, about three years ago. According to Minichello, a benefactor he will only identify as “one of our dedicated believers,” has offered a challenge to contributors.
Any donation received between now and December 31 will be matched, up to $25,000, according to a letter from Minichello.
He’s always seeking support and contributions for this good work. St. Fidelis operates a Thrift Shop to help support the Residence, on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but there’s only so much you can raise from a storefront on a side street in College Point.
