LIC rental tower offers sky pool

Rockrose Development Corporation has announced that American Leisure, an internationally recognized leader in lifestyle and fitness facilities management, will manage operations of the indoor pool and fitness center in their second luxury rental building at EastCoast, in Long Island City.
The elegantly composed 30-story glass and steel tower at 4705 Center Boulevard, which offers panoramic city, park and water views, has been open to prospective renters since early November.
According to Rockrose, the unique waterfront site “informed” architectural firm Arquitectonica, to create a “dynamic geometry, designed to maximize views from every apartment.” Many of the 394 residences, ranging from traditional studios to two bedrooms, offer a variety living options, including a large number with outdoor space.
The 60 foot by 12 foot pool is located on the building’s ninth floor and at four feet deep, is designed primarily for leisure lap swimming, under the watchful eye of a lifeguard and a magnificent view of lower Manhattan.
The frosted glass roofs slide open for air, light and sunbathing. Chaise lounges line the pool deck for relaxing and sunbathing. The pool hours are Monday through Friday, 6 to 10 a.m. and in the evenings from 4 to 10 p.m. On Saturdays, the pool is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
At one end of the pool desk, the glass panels open to a sprawling rooftop deck, which features planting boxes, chaise lounges, outdoor couches, and gas barbecues.
Off the pool deck, full service male and female locker rooms feature showers, steam rooms, and saunas. Vanity areas and accessories, such as hair dryers, are provided, and lockers and rental lockers are available. The locker rooms are adjoined by a massage treatment room, which can be reserved for private massage sessions.
The ninth floor also features a movement studio, perfect for yoga, Pilates and aerobics classes. The glass-enclosed studio looks out to an outdoor deck and also offers an incredible view of the Cityscape.
On the seventh floor, there is a full weight training facility with cardio machines and free weights. American Leisure provides aerobics classes and athletic training in both the movement studio and the fitness room. Current classes include light yoga, stretch and tone, and introduction to strength training.
The reading lounge is located on the seventh floor. American Leisure’s staff will also produce a calendar of social events and social programming in this facility.
The company has been a leader in such projects for over 30 years, notably managing the floating pool at Brooklyn Bridge Park Beach, with its 40,000-square-foot imported sand “beach.”
Other luxury amenities at EastCoast include a sixth-floor reception area; a gaming room with poker table, foosball, arcade, and X-Box and a common area featuring a demonstration/catering kitchen, billiards room, and big screen TV and lounge chairs.
Residents can also rent this room for private events, with use of the attached catering kitchen. A separate, 18-seat cinema room will feature a calendar of film screenings and will be made available for private events.
The residences feature light-filled interiors with floor-to-ceiling windows to enhance magnificent views. Luxury fixtures and finishes include granite kitchen counters, elegant porcelain tile kitchen floors, and bathrooms with marble accents. Many of the units offer private balconies, walk-in-closets and washer-dryers.
Rockrose also said that the 900-car garage is now open and residents can pay $200-$250 per month for a reserved space.
The EastCoast neighborhood continues to expand with on-site retail including Amish Market, Duane Reade and Blue Streak Wines. From its picturesque location on the East River and convenience to Manhattan, EastCoast offers luxury living only five minutes from midtown Manhattan.
Over the next six years, the company will build a total of seven luxury towers on the 22-acre waterfront site in the northern-most section of Queens West in Long Island City that was once the home of a Pepsi-Cola bottling plant.
Once completed, the project will be comprised of 2.9 million square feet of mixed-use space (2,900 luxury rental apartments, sophisticated condominiums and retail spaces), surrounded by eight acres of waterfront parkland.
EastCoast is to be developed in eight phases, with all buildings expected to be completed by 2012.
