Early morning blaze

Heavy flames engulfed the top two floors of a four-story building on Roosevelt Avenue at Main Street in Flushing’s main shopping district early Wednesday morning, October 29. The blaze then spread to a second building. Firefighting operations hampered subway service on the No. 7 line at the Main Street station due to flooding from water run off. Only minor injuries to a firefighter were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
