B’klyn man used forged credit card to buy TV: DA

COLLEGE POINT — A Brooklyn man has been charged with buying a $1,400 television from a College Point BJ’s by using another man’s credit card, a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Walter Malone, 43, of 869 Flushing Ave. in Brooklyn, allegedly made the fraudulent purchase Dec. 16 between 8 p.m. and 8:33 p.m. at the BJ’s at 137-05 20th Ave. in College Point, according to the criminal complaint.

The BJ’s store manager said she viewed video surveillance showing Malone and two other unapprehended men purchase a TV with a credit card.

A police officer investigating the case saw that the TV was purchased for $1,377.26 with an American Express card belonging to a Kevin Smith, the complaint said.

An American Express agent said the account number on the card belongs to a woman, that the card is still in possession of the woman and that the card used by Malone was counterfeit and forged, the complaint said.

Malone was arraigned on $5,000 bail Dec. 18 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Lenora Gerald, according to a spokeswoman for Brown.
