LIC man stabs victim with kitchen knife: DA

EAST ELMHURST — A Long Island City man was arraigned on assault and other charges after he allegedly stabbed a man in his right forearm with a kitchen knife, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Freddy Acosta, 33, of 40-06 Vernon Blvd. in Long Island City, allegedly brandished a kitchen knife and threatened to kill the victim between 8:26 p.m. and 8:43 p.m. March 22 near 96-05 32nd Ave. in East Elmhurst, according to the criminal complaint.

Acosta then allegedly stabbed the victim in the right forearm twice and knocked him to the ground, the complaint said.

The victim was taken to a Queens hospital, where he received 10 stitches, according to the complaint.

Acosta was arraigned March 23 on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment before Queens Criminal Court Judge John Zoll, who set bail at $1,500, the spokeswoman said.

Acosta is next scheduled to appear in court April 6, the spokeswoman said.
