Many Events Planned for New Country Club Season

As the season kicks off at the North Shore Towers Country Club, there will be many different events happening in the upcoming months that residents won’t want to miss.
During last year’s season, the Country Club Committee had set the goal of getting more residents active in events while also encouraging new faces to take part. In addition to holding three sell-out events for Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day, smaller events were also held to draw in a diverse group of people.
This year, the committee is building on its previous successes and has many events in the works. Special Events chair Linda Rappaport and Working Committee on Events chair Iris Lewinter recently detailed some of the events residents can look forward to.
These events will begin Memorial Day weekend. On Friday, May 28, the dinner show “Blue Suede Shows” will be held at 7 p.m. in Towers on the Green. It will include a buffet dinner.
Then, on Sunday, May 29, there will be a holiday barbecue, with limited space, in the VIP Room from 7 to 11 p.m. Rappaport described it as a “really good old-fashioned barbecue with all the trimmings” and noted there will be a live band playing the top 40 hits of today.
On Friday, June 17, the Country Club will host its own “version of North Shore Towers American Idol” with a karaoke night.
In honor of July 4, The Party Dolls, a group that has played at The White House, will perform music by girl groups of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.
“They’re fabulous,” Lewinter said.
As it did last year, the Towers will hold an outdoor calypso party on Saturday, July 16. There will be live music, drinks and the chance to swim or dance the night away.
For a Labor Day show, there will be a tribute to Michael Jackson.
Rappaport noted that more events might be added as the season progresses.
“Our goals are basically aimed at targeting people who really just want to have fun and enjoy all the grounds,” she said. “We’re trying to have people meet each other.”
Lewinter added that she hopes everyone can “get together and party.”
“The hopes are that everyone will come down and have a good time and enjoy the shows and start off a happy season,” Lewinter said. “The shows are good, the food should be delicious.”
Keep an eye open for more information on the upcoming events at North Shore Towers.
