The Jamaica Estates-Holliswood-Briarwood Little League celebrated the beginning of the new season with an opening parade on Saturday, April 30.
North Shore Towers is sponsoring one of their teams, the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“There [are] so many lessons to learn in Little League. It’s a great experience for the kids,” said Councilmember Mark Weprin. “To all the kids, I wish you a great season. I hope everyone has a terrific year.”
Councilmember James Gennaro said, “It’s a great activity. It’s a really great experience to be part of something that’s bigger than yourself.”
Following the parade, the teams played in their first games of the season. So far, the Pittsburgh Pirates are meeting their objective.
“Our team goal is to learn and have fun, so, as far as meeting our goal, we are having the perfect season,” said coach Mark Flug.
Representatives of the Marketing Committee will be attending the team’s Saturday, June 4 game at noon. Members of the North Shore Towers community are invited to attend. A complete list of the team’s schedule is posted in the mail rooms.
