June 24, 2011 Staff Report
The No. 7 train will be down this weekend between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square.
The closure begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, and will end at 5 a.m. on Monday 27, 2011. The MTA said the closure between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square is part of its emergency work to repair the Steinway Tunnel. That tunnel runs between Queens and Manhattan.
The MTA said that it would provide additional Queens-Manhattan service via the Astoria lines. Subway commuters can take these trains from Queensboro Plaza.
Additionally, there will be a fare-free shuttle bus that will operate between Vernon-Jackson and Queensboro Plaza, while subway is down.
The MTA will be announcing another service disruption during the weekend of July 30 to Aug. 1. That too is part of the tunnel repair.
