Gottschee Teams Earn Trophies

U10s Take Manhattan Tournament; U12s Take Off At ‘Kick-Off’

The BW Gottschee U10A boys came out as champions against the top teams in New York and the surrounding areas by beating the Syosset Gunners 4-2 in the finals of the Manhattan Soccer Club Kickoff Classic tournament.

The boys displayed crisp passing and consistent ball control throughout the tourney, and outscored their opponents by a convincing 16-5 margin on their undefeated run.

The MVP of the tournament was goalie Justin Silva, who turned away one attack after another and continuously frustrated opponents, and even chipped in with a goal of his own.

Other standout performances came from Matthew Rubinstein, who netted five goals and drew four penalty kicks in the tournament.

Jeremy Saravia was dangerous out of the midfield, notching four goals and adding two assists. Elias Andriopoulas also had a nice tournament, scoring two goals while adding three assists.

Nick Calderon (2), Jason Lee and Matthew Osiecki also scored for the Cosmos .

U12A

BWG Cosmos U12A team swept all four games they played without conceding a goal to win the Ultimate Spring Kick-Off Cup the weekend of Mar. 3-4.

The boys beat Stony Brook SC Boca Junior Red 2-0, Match Fit Chelsea (NJ) 4-0, and Black Watch RI Premier U12B 1-0, to win their group with a perfect 3-0 record.

They met the TSF Academy (NJ) in the final and prevailed 3-0. The team’s goal scorers were Joseph Sepulveda with four goals, followed by Omar Jamaleddine, Billy Moutopoulos, Paul Romo, Reuben Oshman, Joel Bravo and Peter Mazanek with one goal apiece.
