Howard Bch. Man Fatally Hit By Train

A subway train fight that spilled onto a platform in Williamsburg turned deadly when a Howard Beach resident was fatally struck by an oncoming train last Friday, Mar. 23.

Ryan Beauchamp, suspected as the instigator of a dispute that left a Howard Beach man dead at the Bedford avenue train station in Williamsburg, was reportedly arrested last Wednesday, Mar. 28 and charged with attempted assault.

According to police sources, the incident began at approximately 10 p.m.lastFridayonaLlinetraincar, when two males engaged in a verbal dispute. When the train stopped at the Bedford Avenue station (located on North 7th Street between Driggs and Bedford avenues), both men exited the station and continued arguing.

One of the men then allegedly ini- tiated a physical confrontation, resulting in both men falling onto the Manhattan-bound tracks below. The instigator fled the scene, while the other man-identified as 20-year-old Joshua Basin, of 76th Street in Howard Beach-was hit by an oncoming L train.

Basin was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where he was later pronounced dead.

The other man in the dispute was identified as 33-year-old Ryan Beauchamp, whose last known address was on Addison Street in upstate Larchmont. He was arrested by police on Wednesday, Mar. 28 and charged with attempted assault and harassment.

Other charges may be pending following the results of an ongoing investigation into the incident.
