Police Still Looking For Group Of Attackers

While walking along a Richmond Hill street, a Jamaica man was fatally stabbed after being confronted by a group of unknown males last Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 6, according to police.

Law enforcement sources identified the victim as Jose Rubio, 32, of 88th Avenue.

According to police, Rubio and a 17-year-old male were walking in front of a location on Jamaica Avenue near 127th Street at around 3:33 p.m. last Wednesday when they were confronted by a group of unknown male suspects.

Within seconds, authorities said, the group attacked both victims. During the assault, one of the perpetrators stabbed Rubio in the back. Reportedly, the 17-year-old male was struck in the shoulder with a rock.

Police noted the assailants fled from the scene in an unknown direction moments before officers from the 102nd Precinct and EMS units arrived.

Rubio was rushed by paramedics to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The 17-year-old male reportedly refused medical attention.

Despite a search of the surrounding area for the suspects, no immediate arrests were made, law enforcement sources noted.

Members of the 102nd Precinct Detective Squad are continuing their investigation, police said.
