SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — The ex-boyfriend who strangled a pregnant mother and tried to cover up his crime by lighting a fire that caused the death of her 2-year-old son was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison Wednesday, the Queens district attorney said.
Jimmy Humphrey, 26, was convicted in January on four counts of murder, two counts of arson, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence for strangling Linda Anderson in her apartment in 2010, the DA said.
Humphrey had then set fire to the apartment, where Anderson’s young son was sleeping, according to the DA. The toddler died as a result of smoke inhalation, the DA said.
Queens Supreme Court Justice Gregory Lasak sentenced Humphrey to 50 years to life in prison after he was convicted following a four-week trial, the DA said.
