Flyers Soar to Wins

The St. Margaret’s/Resurrection Ascension Flyers Track Team competed in the Diocesan Championships at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, L.I., on Mar. 16 and took home some top prizes.

The girls borught back the second place trophy overall, while the boys finished third in their competition.

The first-place winners included Jillian Hubert, senior girls 800 meters; Gabriella Mattson, senior girls standing long jump; Aoife Kenny, bantam 800 meter.

Finishing first on the boys side were Ted Colter, senior boys 800 meter; Lucas Sett, boys 200 meter; Noel Maaiba, standing long jump; Michael Hubert, bantam boys 55 meter; Seamus Girdusky, 800 meter; Owen Kelly, 400 meter; Andrew Kelly, pee-wee 55 meter.

Fiona Maloney finished second in the 400 meter bantam race. The second-place boys were Jack DiBattista, novice standing long jump; Fion Kenny, bantam standing long jump; and Julian Corredor, senior 200 meter.

Third-place winners on the girls’ side were Liana Felice, senior 200 meter; Mackenzie Collin, novice 200 meter and Sara Lydon, bantam 200 meter. Joseph Brown finished third in the boys’ bantam 800 meter.

Other medal recipients were (in alphabetical order) Jorge Aguilar, Christian Audrin, Isabelle Audrin, Sebastian Audrin, John Boger, Matthew Chiarovana, Angel Falcan, Danny Greenwald, Ricky Hubert, Keelan Kenny, Daniel Longcar, Zara Naaa, John Ostling, Anthony Saravo and Aaron Sheridan.

Coaches Jeff Boger, Mark Codd, Dennis Fey, Michael Lofrus and George McCarthey congratulated their teams on their good showing.

The next meet will be held outdoors at Astoria Park on Apr. 21.
