Subway Changes

The MTA has scheduled a number of service changes for several subway lines throughout the city due to construction work.

These service advisories are current as of Wednesday, May 8. Last minute changes to service and operating schedules may be made due to weather-related conditions or emergency repairs. Check www.mta.info for schedule changes.

Rail lines which run through the area that will be affected include the following:

Work Shortens M Service Weeknights

M train service will be suspended between 47th-50th Streets in Manhattan and 71st-Continental Avenues in Forest Hills late nights on Tuesday, May 14, through Thursday, May 16, from 9:45 to 11:59 p.m. During this period, M trains will run between Metropolitan Avenue and 47th-50th Streets, then switch over to the F line to 57th Street.

As alternate service, E trains will stop at the Fifth Avenue-53rd Street, Lexington Avenue-53rd Street and Court Square 23rd Street stations. E and F trains will also operate local service during these late nights between Queens Plaza/21st Street- Queensbridge and 71st-Continental Avenues.

Riders can transfer between the M train and the E train at West Fourth Street and the F train at 57th Street.

No Weekend J Trains Cross Wmbg. Bridge

There will be no J train service between Brooklyn and Manhattan this Saturday and Sunday, May 11-12, from 5:45 a.m. until 8 p.m. During this period, J train service will operate in two sections: between Jamaica Center and Hewes Street and between Essex Street and Chambers Street.

Shuttle buses will replace J train service between Hewes Street in Brooklyn and Essex Street in Manhattan. These buses will also stop at Marcy Avenue.

The shuttle bus stop locations are as follows:

– Hewes Street-on Broadway at Hooper Street;

– Marcy Avenue-on Broadway at Marcy Avenue; and

– Essex Street-on Delancey Street at Essex Street.

It was noted that J trains running between Essex Street and Delancey Street will operate every 15 minutes.

Some J Trains Will Run Short In R.H.

The last stop for alternating Jamaica Center-bound J trains will be 111th Street in Richmond Hill on Thursday, May 9, and Friday, May 10, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Riders can transfer between J trains at 111th Street to continue their trip.

During this service change, it was noted, J trains running between 111th Street and Jamaica Center will operate every 20 minutes.

Split Service On The A Train In Queens

A trains will operate in two sections- between 207th Street and Lefferts Boulevard and between Rockaway Boulevard and Howard Beach-this weekend, from 5:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, until 6 a.m. Sunday, May 12. Riders can transfer between A trains at Rockaway Boulevard to continue their trip.

It was noted that all A trains running between Rockaway Boulevard and Howard Beach will operate every 30 minutes. Riders are advised to allow for additional travel time.

Those heading to John F. Kennedy International Airport can, as an alternate route, transfer from the A train at Broadway Junction and take a Jamaica Center-bound J train to Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue, where Air- Train service is available.

Stops Skipped Late Nights On E, F Lines

Manhattan-bound E and F trains will skip the Van Wyck Boulevard and 75th Avenue stations between 9:45 p.m. Monday, May 13, and 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 14. During this period, Manhattan-bound F trains will also skip the Sutphin Boulevard stop.

For service to these stations, take the E or F train to Union Turnpike or 71st-Continental Avenues, then trans- fer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train or a Jamaica-bound F train. For service from these stations, take the E train to Union Turnpike or Jamaica-Van Wyck-or the F train to Union Turnpike or Parsons Boulevard-then transfer to a Manhattan-bound E or F train.

Additionally, Jamaica Centerbound E trains and Jamaica-bound F trains will skip the 75th Avenue and Van Wyck Boulevard stations late nights on Tuesday, May 14, through Friday, May 17, from 9:45 p.m. until 5 a.m. During this period, Jamaicabound F trains will also skip Sutphin Boulevard.

For service to these stations, take the E train to Union Turnpike or Jamaica Van Wyck-or the F train to Union Turnpike or Parsons Boulevard- then transfer to a Manhattanbound E or F train. For service from these stations, take the E or F train to Union Turnpike or 71st-Continental Avenues, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train or a Jamaicabound F train.

Late Night Express On E & R Trains

Manhattan-bound E trains will run express service between 71st-Continental Avenues and Queens Plaza from 11 p.m. Monday, May 13, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 14. These trains will continue to stop at Roosevelt Avenue.

It was noted that Manhattan-bound R trains will also operate express service between 71st-Continental Avenues and Queens Plaza on Monday from 10 to 11 p.m.

For service to the 67th Avenue, 63rd Drive, Woodhaven Boulevard, Grand Avenue, Elmhurst Avenue, 65th Street, Northern Boulevard, 46th Street, Steinway Street or 36th Street stations, take the E or R train to Roosevelt Avenue or Queens Plaza, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train or a Forest Hills-bound R train.

For service from these stations, take the E train to Roosevelt Avenue or 71st-Continental Avenues, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound E or R train.

Additionally, Forest Hills-bound R trains will run express service between Queens Plaza and 71st-Continental Avenues on Tuesday, May 14, through Thursday, May 16, from 9:45 to 11:59 p.m.

For service to the 36th Street, Steinway Street, 46th Street, Northern Boulevard, 65th Street, Elmhurst Avenue, Grand Avenue, Woodhaven Boulevard, 63rd Drive and 67th Avenue stations, take the R train to Roosevelt Avenue or 71st-Continental Avenues, then transfer to a Manhattan bound R train. For service from these stations, take the R train to Roosevelt Avenue or Queens Plaza, then transfer to a Forest Hills-bound R train.

Switch Of Lines On E, M To Manhattan

Manhattan-bound E trains will run on the F line between Queens and Manhattan late nights on Thursday, May 9, and Friday, May 10 from 9:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. Additionally, Manhattan bound M trains will run on the F line between 36th Street in Queens and 47th-50th Streets in Manhattan on Thursday, May 9, from 9:30 to 11:59 p.m.

Furthermore, Manhattan-bound E trains will run on the F line between Queens and Manhattan this weekend, from 11:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, until 5 a.m. Monday, May 13. On the weekend, Manhattan-bound trains will run on the F line between 36th Street in Queens and Second Avenue in Manhattan, which will be the last stop; and Jamaica-bound trains will run on the F line between Second Avenue and West Fourth Street before switching back to the E line.

As a result of this service change, there will be no Manhattan-bound E or M train service at Queens Plaza, Court Square-23rd Street, Lexington Avenue-53rd Street, Fifth Avenue- 53rd Street and Seventh Avenue.

For service to Queens Plaza and Court Square-23rd Street stations, transfer to the 7 train at Roosevelt Avenue, which stops at nearby Queensboro Plaza. For service from these stations, take the 7 train at Queensboro Plaza to Times Square-42nd Street.

Furthermore, E trains will run on the F line in both directions between 36th Street in Queens and Second Avenue in Manhattan from 11:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 7.

As a result of this change, there will be no E train service at the Queens Plaza, Court Square-23rd Street, Lexington Avenue-53rd Street and Fifth Avenue-53rd Street stations. There will also be no downtown service to Spring Street, Canal Street and Chambers Street-World Trade Center.

For service to Queens Plaza or Court Square-23rd Street, transfer to the 7 train at Roosevelt Avenue.

Additionally, a free shuttle bus will be provided between Court Square- 23rd Street, Queens Plaza and 21st Street-Queensbridge.

Weekend Work Hits N Line In Astoria

Manhattan-bound N trains will skip the 30th Avenue, Broadway, 36th Avenue and 39th Avenue stations this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, May 10, until 5 a.m. Monday, May 13. This service change will also be in effect between Tuesday, May 14, and Friday, May 17, from 10:15 a.m. until 3 p.m.

During the weekday service change, Q trains will not operate between 57th Street and Ditmars Boulevard.

For service to these stations, take the N train to Queensboro Plaza, then transfer to an Astoria-bound N train. For service from these stations, take the N train to Astoria Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound N train.

Central Ave. Station Closed For Repairs

The Central Avenue station on the M line in Bushwick remains shut through late August as the MTA conducts renovations as part of its “station renewal” program.

Riders are advised to use the Myrtle Avenue-Broadway or Knickerbocker Avenue stops on the M line, the Kosciuszko Street stop on the J line or the Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues station on the L and M lines as alternates.

Additionally, the B54 bus provides connecting service between Central Avenue and the Myrtle Avenue, Knickerbocker Avenue and Myrtle- Wyckoff Avenues stations. During overnight hours, shuttle buses will be provided between these stations.

Sandy-Related Svc. Changes Remain

Until further notice, there is no service on the A line south of the Howard Beach station to the Rockaways and on the Rockaway Park Shuttle.

Riders can use a free shuttle bus between Howard Beach and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue. There is also a free H train shuttle operating between Far Rockaway and Beach 90th Street. Stations west of Beach 90th Street remain closed.

The H train operates on weekdays from 4:55 a.m. to 9:25 p.m. and on weekends from 4:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. The change in times is in order to accommodate ongoing work along the line to restore full service in the Rockaways.

For service between Beach 90th Street and Rockaway Park-Beach 116th Streets, transfer to the Q22 bus line, which makes nearby stops.

The MTA has expanded service on the Q52 limited line between Elmhurst and the Rockaways in order to increase rush-hour access to the A train in Ozone Park.

The Q52 primarily runs on Woodhaven and Cross Bay boulevards and stops at Liberty Avenue, close to the Rockaway Boulevard A train station.
