FOREST HILLS — A 31-year-old Jamaica man received 18 years in prison for the brutal beating of another man in a Forest Hills club in 2010, QueensDistrict Attorney Richard Brown said.
Donnell Coleman was convicted of first-degree gang assault because of a Nov. 27, 2010 incident inside a club at 1 Station Sq. in Forest Hills, Brown said.
Early that morning, the district attorney said, Coleman, along with eight to 10 others, punched and kicked 33-year-old Haroon Walfall, of Rosedale, repeatedly in the face, head and torso.
The altercation, which was over a girl, led to Walfall’s death later that morning after he suffered an enlarged heart, bruising, swelling, bleeding and lacerations to his face and neck, Brown said.
“The defendant in this case showed no mercy to his victim when he led an attack on him, which resulted in his death,” Brown said. “The sentence imposed is appropriate for such a vicious and senseless attack.”
